PACKARDS SOUTH – Morning/afternoon – 10+ Shoveler, 1 LITTLE STINT, 4 Dunlin, 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER (still present 17.00), 2 Ruff, 2 Greenshank, 21 Ringed Plover, 2 Hobby, 2 Juv Marsh Harrier (1 with green wing tags – per Norfolk tagging project), 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Peregrine,  3 Kestrel, 8 Buzzard, c.100 Swallow, c.50 Alba Wagtail, c.50 Meadow Pipit (JW).

PRISON LAKES – Afternoon -1 Pochard, 1 MANDARIN (eclipse male flew to the small pond in the horse paddocks), 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Whitethroat, 4+ Blackcap and c.6 Chiffchaff (JW)

PACKARDSEvening – 4 Green Sandpiper, 2 LITTLE STINT, 6 Ruff and 5+ Yellow-legged Gull (DW, CN, DA and CCR)

PACKARDS NORTH (West Wood) – 1 Goldcrest (CCR)


This weekend (12th, 13th and 14th) sees the inaugural Yorkshire Fossil Festival in Scarborough. The event is being held at the ROTUNDA MUSEUM. Admission is free. You can also meet Dean Lomax who is a Donny lad and has recently published a new book Dinosaurs of the British Isles, which is the first book focussing on this subject.
