PACKARD’S – 1 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER (JW, DH, CN, MP et al) along northern (not the main one) best approached from Ten Acre Lake Car Park, climb over frence in SE corner of car park, follow track south then soon back north then east parallel to Lindholme Bank Road until on open Moor, walk south c.500m until you see a low lying area with heather and cotton grass on your left, walk east through this area until you reach a limestone track on a raised bund; follow the tram until you have four bunds between you and Lindholme Island, the Plover was on the fourth bund from the Island this afternoon; 2 CURLEW SANDPIPER, 22 Dunlin, 13 Golden Plover, GREY PLOVER (ho), 1 r-t HEN HARRIER N onto Kilham West (MLy), 1 HOBBY, 4+ MARSH HARRIER, 1 Peregrine, 7 Pink-footed Geese, 28 Ringed Plover, 15 Skylark W, 1 Snipe, 4 Stonechat, 1 TWITE (DH), 9 Wigeon S (J Wozencroft, C Neale, D Hursthouse, M Paine, M Lynes, R A Marshall, R Collis et al)

ETHELMOOR – 35+ Lesser Redpoll (M Lynes)

NEW PORTERS – 1j MARSH HARRIER (M Lynes)

TODAY’S TWITE AND  AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER ARE THE 178TH AND 179TH SPECIES FOR THE MOORS THIS YEAR. THE  PLOVER IS ALSO ALSO THE SIXTH YANK OF THE YEAR (Baird’s Sand, American Golden Plover, Pectoral Sandpiper (2) and Buff-breasted Sandpiper (2).

SUNDAY 2ND OCTOBER 2016

2 CRANE heard, 3 Swallow S, 4 Song Thrush W, 4 Redpoll. Male MARSH HARRIER S with juv female also present. Adult male Peregrine chasing Woodpigeons. At 2 pm c.140 Redwing went E to W along the top of Ash Dump onto the island with another 3 singles back of the factory (Mark Paine)
