Helen Kirk  has asked me to publicise the following:

Dear Friends,

Thank you for signing the petition “No moor management for grouse-shooting on two National Trust estates in Derbyshire.”

We were due to hand over everyone’s signatures to the National Trust today -all 4,875 of them. But at the last moment, Andy Beer, their Midlands Director pulled out, citing ‘unforeseen circumstances’. We had already done some great PR photos for the handover, which you can see here:

We are hoping to reschedule our handover very soon, but we do now have an opportunity for one last push for signatures.

With your help can we get our petition well over the 5,000 mark?  We think so. It means we just need 3,693 online signatures to add to our 1,308 handwritten ones.

So we’re asking you to email your friends, or post a link to our petition on Facebook, and encourage them all to sign it, if they’ve not already done so.

Here’s the link, and thank you all for your support. It means a lot to us.

We’re still hearing noises from the NT that they still want more shooting on these iconic Peak District moors, which we think is deplorable. So every signature really does count. At the time of writing this, we just need a further 155 online signatures to reach 5,000!

Many thanks

Nick Moyes
