ALDERFEN/TUNNEL PITS – c60 Whooper Swan, 9 BEWICK’S SWAN (4 adult and 2 juvenile) and 7 Curlew (JR, AM, JW) The CETTI’S WARBLER was also calling today (AM and P. Lee)

CANDY FARM – 13 WHITE-FRONTED GEESE (AM), 1 imm male Marsh Harrier (AM). 410 Pink-footed Geese. 1 BEAN GOOSE (Nick Whitehouse), 1 Peregrine, 1 LONG-EARED OWL sw, 2 Willow Tit, 1 singing Siskin and c20 Tree Sparrow (Nick Whitehouse, JW, CCR & JR)

BOSTON PARK – 20 Siskin (AM)

TEN ACRE LAKE – the SMEW remains at the north end of the lake (KF, CN)

STAINFORTH MOOR ROAD - 6 Whooper Swan and 1 Grey Wagtail (CN).

STAINFORTH MOOR ROAD AREA (Morning) – 8 Grey Partridge, 17 Red-legged Partridge, 8 Whooper Swan, 2 Green Sandpiper (JR)

TEN ACRE LAKE (Morning) – the redhead Smew remains, also 1 Treecreeper and 1 Goldcrest with tit flock (JR)

HUGGIN CARR (Morning) – c250 Greylag Geese, c150 Canada Geese, 2 Mistle Thrush and 3 Bullfinch (JR)

TEN ACRE LAKE (1200hrs) – The SMEW is still present (D Winn)

KILHAM WEST (1400hrs) – the male Hen Harrier was seen (D Winn)

TERRY CARR – 10+ Whooper Swan, 1 female Sparrowhawk, 17 Lapwing, 1 Jay, 1 Skylark, 1o+ Chaffinch and 1 Redpoll ssp. (J Small)

BADGER CORNER LAKE – c140 Pink-footed Geese, 80+ Mallard, 2 Tufted Duck, 2 Goldeneye (JS)

POOR PIECE – 1 Woodcock, 1 Green Woodpecker and 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker (JS)

BOSTON PARK LAKE – 1 Oystercatcher and 1 Pied Wagtail (JS)

ALDERFEN/TUNNEL PITS (Early-late am) – 46 Mute Swan, 68 Whooper Swan, 11 Bean Geese (these had moved off before I left, perhaps for a wash and brush up at Cope Farm), 12 Gadwall, c20 Mallard, 3 Cormorant, 1 Kestrel, 3 Curlew and the Cetti’s Warbler was heard on the northern bank of the river (CCR, JR)

TEN ACRE LAKE (am) – the Smew was still present and there was a single Cormorant (JP) 2 Mute Swan, 7 Wigeon, 2 Mallard, 19 Gadwall, 20 Tufted Duck, 14 Pochard, 1 Smew, c120 Coot, 5 Cormorant and 1 Coal Tit (JS)

KILHAM BIG POOL – 2 Mallard, 2 Teal and 2 Linnet (JS)

STAINFORTH MOOR ROAD AREA (Early pm) – 7 Mute Swan, 5 Whooper Swan (JP, JS)

CANDY FARM – c200 Pink-footed Geese, 1 Water Rail, 1 Buzzard (JR)

BOSTON PARK – 85+ Coot, 1 Green Woodpecker, 3 Corn Bunting (CGJ)

ALDERFEN – 50+ Whooper Swan (CGJ)

BOSTON PARK (afternoon) – a White-fronted Goose was seen with the Canada Geese here (JP)

MOOR EDGES (pm) - 11 Kestrel (DW et al)

NEW MOOR (pm) – 1 Merlin (male), 1 Peregrine (adult), 2 Buzzard, c50 Whooper Swan (DW et al)

MOORBANK WOODS (pm) 2 Tawny Owls (DW et al)

PACKARDS SOUTH (pm) – c200 Pink-footed Geese flew in (DW et al)

ALDERFEN  am – 11 TUNDRA BEAN GEESE still with 72 Whooper Swan and 3 Bewick’s swan, the male HEN HARRIER was seen again and a Peregrine (AM, RAM)

CANDY CORNER  am – the WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was still in the fields with Graylags (AM) . 7 of the TUNDRA BEAN GEESE from Alderfen relocated here at midday with 350-400 Pink-footed Geese (TR,P Greaves)

DRAGON PITS  – a Cetti’s Warbler was found here mid afternoon, this is the first record for this area of the moor (AM)

TEN ACRE LAKE  pm – the redhead SMEW was still present (AM)

PACKARDS HEATH  am – 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Woodcock, 2 Green Woodpecker (JR)

BOSTON PARK  – 6 Lesser Redpoll (JR)

ALDERFEN/TUNNEL PITS  am – the 11 TUNDRA BEAN GEESE were again in nearby fields, 60+ Whooper Swan, 3 Bewick’s swan, 3 Buzzard, 3 Kestrel, 10 Curlew, the male HEN HARRIER was seen again at midday

CANDY CORNER - c200 Pink-footed Geese, 1 WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE with Graylags

STAINFORTH MOOR DRAIN - 2 Green Sandpiper

TEN ACRE LAKE - 1 Redhead SMEW (JW, J Bruce, A Wood, K Shaw).
